Fourth Reserve working towards Sanctuary Garden status for Lewisham

Green spaces especially woodlands are proven therapeutic places for people who may need a calm space to overcome trauma or mental health difficulties. Migrants, asylum seekers and refugees have usually been displaced from their homes, families and may have seen or endured damaging experiences.

Sanctuary gardens are quiet green spaces that give opportunities for individuals to heal through growing flowers/vegetables, walking amongst the trees and experiencing peace. The Fourth Reserve are partnering with Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network to help make the Buckthorne Cutting Nature Reserve a Lewisham Sanctuary Garden.
